TALA OF ROSARY
POLISH TITLE: Tala od różańca
Natalia Rolleczek, who is 92 today, was a colourful personality in the Polish literary circles under communism. Her well-known novel entitled The Wooden Rosary, later adapted for the screen by Ewa and Czesław Petelski, was used as a tool of the Stalinist propaganda against the Catholic church. The film is a portrait of the controversial writer, a friend of Karol Wojtyła, who declared her faith and, at the same time, was criticized for her affiliation with the so called 'red bourgeoisie'.
