POLISH TITLE: POŻEGNANIE

This is an autobiographic, self-referential and extremely intimate documentary. In 2007 Katarzyna Maciejko-Kowalczyk started to make a film about her aunt Maria, who decided to sell an over 100-year-old family house. The director had died after severe illness before she could finish her work. The documentary, which was completed thanks to the initiative of her daughters, Agnieszka and Magda, is a multi-layered story on the passage of time.

Film editor, professional photographer and director. "Benek Blues", the film with which she made her debut as a director, was awarded the two most prestigious prizes at the Cracow Festival: Grand Prix – the Golden Dragon and Golden Hobby-Horse, and prizes in Leipzig, Neubrandemburg and in Taiwan. For many years she worked for the Documentary Film Studio in Warsaw and edited most films by Marcel Łoziński: ("Próba mikrofonu" / "The microphon test", "89 mm od Europy" / "89 mm from Europe", "Wszystko może się przytrafić" / "Everything is possible", "Pamiętam" / "I remember"), and also "Przesłuchanie" / "Interrogation" by Ryszard Bugajski, "Robotnicy 80" / "Workers 80" by Andrzej Chodakowski and Andrzej Zajączkowski, "Wół" / "An Ox" by Józefa Cyrusa and many other important documentary films. She has been a member of the Association of Polish Photographers since 1979.
 

Magdalena Kowalczyk »

Was born in 1983 r. in Warsaw. She graduated from documentary course in the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. Her film “Reflection” was made during the „Film Kindergarden” Course in Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. The film was awarded on the XII IFF "ETIUDA&ANIMA" 2005. She’s a one of director’s in “Silence II” – a set of etudes made by students of the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and a co-director in the Polish-German project “Reflection” – a set of shorts made as a result of cooperation of the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and the International Filmschul Koln in 2006. Her last short documentary is called “By the river” (2006)

Agnieszka Kowalczyk »

Editor and director. She has edited the following films: Score, Gośka! by Joanna Kaczmarek (2007) and Agnieszka Is Not Here by Paweł Jóźwiak‑Rodan (2010). Her short feature debut The Labyrinth (2012) is made in 3D technology.
