EXIT

POLISH TITLE: WYJŚCIE

The documentary shows previously unseen images of East-West German history, shot in Poland in October 10-20, 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was shortly after the GDR authorities had closed the Austrian and Hungarian border to its citizens. The exodus of GDR citizens had begun that summer. The film shows refugees who reached the West German embassy in Warsaw, communicating for the first time in public about life in East Germany, explaining the reasons for their flight. They are afraid, and without possessions, but with a newly gained sense of security.
