ŚWIETLIK

In 1983, during the State of Martial Law, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Speaker of the Senate Bogdan Borusewicz and Maciej Płażyński, Marshal of the Sejm in the years 1997-2001 and current opposition MP, founded Świetlik, a high access services company. They cleaned inaccessible windows and painted chimneys in order to support their families and finance their activities in the Polish underground, at a time when meat was still rationed. Post-1989, they entered official politics. They were on the same side for some time - but are now political opponents. They all share a passion for football and play a football match in Gdansk every year, on New Year's Eve. On 31 December 2009, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Marshal of the Sejm Maciej Płażyński were on opposing teams.
