POLISH SHORT FILMS IN DRAMA

Today the 20th edition of the Drama Short Film Festival starts in Greece. This year, apart from three Polish films in the competitive section, there are three special screening of Polish short films in the programme. The festival lasts until 20 September.

Three Polish films were selected to participate in this year's competitive section of the festival - animated "Darling" by Izabela Plucińska and "After all" by Bogna Kowalczyk, as well as the fiction film "The Boys" by Paweł Orwat. The films were chosen by the selection committee from among 1500 submissions. 58 films will compete for the Grand Prix awards in the international competition.

The festival program includes also screenings of Polish short films.  Within the frames of special Polish programme, the viewers and guests of the Greek festival will watch a total of 18 fiction, documentary and animated films. The films which will be shown in Drama include, among others, "Twist&Blood" by Kuba Czekaj, "The Big Leap" by Kristoffer Rus and "Rollercoaster" by Marek Marlikowski. Four documentary films in the programme are: "Aldona" by Piotr Wysocki, "Knife in the Wife" by Vita Drygas,  "Left Side of the Face" by Marcin Bortkiewicz and "Out of Reach" by Jakub Stożek. The selection of Polish films is completed by the animated films "Millhaven" by Bartek Kulas and "Fat and Skinny" by Aleksandra Brożyna. It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the aforementioned films, two Polish animations: "Esterhazy" by Izabela Plucińska and "The Mystery of the Malakka Mountain" by Jakub Wroński are included in the programme for children.

The screenings of Polish films are held this Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The programme was prepared in cooperation with Krakow Film Foundation and the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The festival in Drama is one of the oldest Greek festivals, dedicated only to short films. At this year's edition of the festival, the competition of Greek films will be held for the 37th time. The international competition, started 20 years ago, is currently the central section of the festival. Every year at the festival, apart from the festival awards, the jury also gives nominations for European Film Awards.
