POLISH PROJECTS AT BALTIC SEA DOCS
On 2 September started another edition of Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries, which lasts until September 6. Two Polish projects qualified for the participation in the forum.
Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries is a pitching session, together with workshops and film screenings. The forum is dedicated to films from Baltic countries and to films produced in other countries, which are connected to the Baltic region through their subject matter. This year's event is scheduled for 2-6 September in Riga.
The organisers have announced the list of 23 film projects, which are qualified for the participation in the forum. These include 2 Polish productions:
- I Would Like to Tell you Everything, prod. by Plesnar & Kraus Films, Maria Krauss, dir. Gregory Zvika Portnoy – the film tells about parental love which is full of devotion, but suddenly it is interrupted. It shows the story of three men who have not seen their children for over 10 years.
- Strip and War – prod. by Film Studio Everest, Miroslaw Dembinski, dir. Andrei Kutsila – the documentary film shows the relationship of a grandfather - a retired army officer - and his grandson, who works as a striptease artist. However, it is not only a family story, but a reflection on the entire Belarus and post-soviet world.
This year, distributors, sales agents and representatives of the television channels from the following organisations will take part in the Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries: Autlook, CT, DR International Sales, Estonia Public Broadcasting, YLE, ARTE G.E.I.E, ARD/MDR, LRT, DVD Sales, First Hand Films, BBC Storyville, Film Republic and Taskovski Films. The lectures will be given by, among others, Mikael Opstrup (European Documentary Network, Denmark), Tue Steen Müller (consultant, Denmark), Hanka Kastelicová (HBO Europe, Hungary). The Swedish editor Phil Jandaly will be a constant help for the participants of the workshops, giving them advice on the trailers of their films.
