POLISH FILMS NOMINATED FOR SILVER EYE AWARD

We have just learned the list of titles whose producers have a shot at receiving the Silver Eye Award. Calls by Ming-Wei Chiang and The Hamlet Syndrome by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski are among the selected productions. As usual, the winners of the 14th edition will be announced at this year's festival in Jihlava.

The Silver Eye is a unique distinction among other film awards as it's awarded to film producers instead of directors. The award is intended to support the promotion and foreign distribution of the winning film. The films participating in the fair are divided into three runtime categories – short, medium, and long. In addition to the trophy, winners receive a cash prize and one year's representation of the film by the East Silver Caravan, which means the winning film will be promoted at over 130 of the world's most important film festivals and fairs.

This year, producers of two Polish short films have a chance to win the trophy – Calls by Ming-Wei Chiang, which was made at the Łódź Film School and Moody by Tomasz Ratter, Karolina Karwan from Munk Studio and feature length docs The Hamlet Syndrome directed by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski, produced by Balapolis and co-produced by Kundschafter Filmproduktion and co-production Belarus 23.34 by Tatiana Svirepy.

The winners will be selected by a three-person jury consisting of Kathleen McInnis (Film Marketing Strategist, Programmer, See-Through Films), Christopher Small (Curator, Dafilms), Radu Sticlea (Festival Director, Beast Film Festival) - for shorts and Mathieu Janssen (Head of Competitions, Go Short Vienna), Anna Feistel (Programmer, Kurz Film Festival), María Vera (Festival Distributor and Sales Agent, Kino Rebelde) - for feature length.

Winners will be announced on 29 October.
