MACIEJ ADAMEK’S “UNSPOKEN” WINS TWO AWARDS AT FESTIVAL IN AUSTRIA

Maciej Adamek’s “Unspoken” continues its successful international festival journey. At The Pillusion Film Festival in Austria, the documentary received two awards: Best Feature Documentary and the Audience Award in the same category.

The protagonist of “Unspoken” is 26-year-old Mateusz, a young man who stutters and is determined to fulfil a childhood dream: becoming the Polish champion in acrobatics. Maciej Adamek follows his journey with sensitivity and empathy, portraying not only his sporting ambition, but also the everyday effort of confronting his fears, his body, his voice and the expectations of those around him.

What begins as a deeply personal story develops into a universal tale of courage, perseverance and the need to express oneself, even when words do not come easily.

The Pillusion Film Festival has been bringing together independent filmmakers from around the world since 2022. The festival takes place in Pill, a village in Austria’s Inn Valley in the Tyrolean Alps, around 25 minutes from Innsbruck. Its screenings are held in a repurposed barn, creating an unusual setting for films aimed at a diverse audience, from local residents and regular cinema-goers to arthouse film enthusiasts and fellow filmmakers.

The festival places particular emphasis on collaboration and community, seeking to create an open environment in which filmmakers and audiences can exchange ideas and establish meaningful, sometimes unexpected, connections.

More information about the festival can be found on its official website.
