PITCHING OF YOUNG FILMMAKERS’ PROJECTS FROM THE WAJDA SCHOOL AT THE WARSAW INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
On 14 October 2025, as part of Warsaw Industry Days during the Warsaw International Film Festival, the pitching session of young filmmakers’ projects from the Wajda School will take place. The event will be held at Kinoteka (Room 3) from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free and does not require prior registration.
During the session, selected film projects developed within Wajda School courses will be presented, including fiction, documentary, and screenwriting works. The event offers participants a unique opportunity to showcase their ideas to film industry professionals – producers, distributors, and broadcasters – who are looking for original and well-prepared projects ready for production.
The pitching session will be moderated by Joanna Malicka – a film producer, film scholar, and pitching trainer associated with the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice and the Wajda School. For years, she has collaborated with numerous film festivals, regional funds, and industry organizations, including the Polish Filmmakers Association and the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers. She specializes in project development and the international film market.
Following the pitching session, there will be a meeting with Joanna Ratajczak, a Wajda School graduate and director of “Trust Me”. The project was developed within the DOK PRO documentary course and pitched during Wajda School New Talents in 2019.
Founded 23 years ago by Andrzej Wajda and Wojciech Marczewski, the Wajda School is one of Europe’s leading centers of film education. It combines learning with practical filmmaking experience and provides professional artistic mentorship from top Polish and European filmmakers. The school’s mission is to support young artists in developing their own projects and to bridge the gap between film education and the professional industry. The Wajda School places strong emphasis on international collaboration and operates under the honorary patronage of the European Film Academy.
To date, the Wajda School has trained over 2,000 graduates and supported hundreds of film projects, many of which have gone on to success at festivals and in cinemas worldwide.
The full catalogue of presented projects is available here.
The Wajda School’s courses are carried out within the Film Education Programme, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
