MACIEJ BOCHNIAK’S PROJECT SELECTED FOR MIA DOC CO-PRODUCTION MARKET & PITCHING FORUM
Maciej Bochniak’s project The Lawyer has been selected for the MIA Doc Co-production Market & Pitching Forum, one of the key sections of the Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo (MIA) in Rome. The event will take place from October 6 to 10, 2025, gathering leading professionals from the global film industry.
The MIA Doc Co-production Market & Pitching Forum serves as an international platform connecting producers, directors, broadcasters, and decision-makers. Among the 15 projects chosen for this year’s edition recognized for their narrative strength, originality, and artistic excellence – is the Polish project “The Lawyer”.
The film tells the story of Brian Mwenda, a young and ambitious Kenyan lawyer who quickly rises to fame by winning seemingly impossible cases. However, his brilliant career takes an unexpected turn when it is revealed that he never graduated from law school. “The Lawyer offers” a nuanced portrait of a man torn between ambition, charisma, and moral boundaries, set against the rigid framework of justice systems.
The film’s director, Maciej Bochniak, is an acclaimed filmmaker known for both fiction and documentary works. He is a recipient of the Janusz “Kuba” Morgenstern “Perspektywa” Award and the Golden Claw at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival.
The participation of “The Lawyer” in the Rome forum marks an important step in promoting Polish documentary cinema internationally and opens new opportunities for co-production and distribution partnerships. The project is produced by MADANTS and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute (PISF).
