“TRAINS” NOMINATED IN TWO CATEGORIES AT THE CRITICS CHOICE DOCUMENTARY AWARDS

Maciej J. Drygas’s film “Trains” has received two nominations at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards. The Critics Choice Association, which brings together American and Canadian film critics, nominated the film in the category Best Archival Documentary, while composer Paweł Szymański was recognized with a nomination for Best Score.

The announcement of the nominations coincides with the film’s theatrical release on the U.S. West Coast. From October 16 to 21, a series of screenings will take place in Los Angeles, featuring Q&A sessions with director Maciej J. Drygas and producer Vita Żelakeviciute. The full list of upcoming screenings is available at www.trainsdoc.com. Earlier, the film was released in cinemas on the U.S. East Coast, where the filmmakers also met audiences following several screenings in New York. The U.S. distribution of "Trains" is handled by EPF Media.

This year marks the 10th edition of the Critics Choice Documentary Awards. The winners will be announced during a gala ceremony on November 9 at The Edison Ballroom in Manhattan. It is worth noting that Trains” is the first Polish documentary ever nominated for this prestigious award. The full list of this year’s nominees is available at www.criticschoice.com.

“Trains” is a deeply personal, contemplative journey through the 20th century, composed entirely of archival footage. In this wordless film-both beautiful and bittersweet—the wonder of travel turns into a curse, and tears of joy merge with the pain of despair.

The film’s U.S. theatrical distribution is part of a wider Oscar campaign seeking a nomination in the Best Documentary Feature category. "Trains", which received both the Grand Prize and the Editing Award at last year’s IDFA Festival in Amsterdam, has been officially submitted for Academy Award consideration. The film’s international promotion is handled by IKH Pictures Promotion, and the Oscar campaign has been co-financed by the Polish Film Institute (PISF).
