"SUPER UNIT" AWARDED AT ASTRA FILM FESTIVAL
On October 10, the Award-Ceremony at the 22nd edition of the Astra International Film Festival was held. One of the statuettes went to the short documentary film "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec.
The festival jury, consisting of twelve film industry experts, watched a total of 48 productions in four competition sections: international films, films from Central and Eastern Europe, national films and student film section. In the last category, the award for the best cinematography was given to "Super Unit." The jury appreciated the way in which the film transforms the huge residential building into the documentary film's main protagonist, which is at the same time the metaphor for the society.
Super Unit is a huge block of flats designed as "machine for living." On 15 floors of the building, up to 13 thousand people can live. The lift stops every third floor, so the inhabitants have to go through a real labyrinth of corridors and stairs to reach their flats. The main protagonists of the film are people living inside the Super Unit and experiencing important moments of their lives there. Here, their emotions pulsate, expectations are born and dreams come true ... or not.
762 apartment doors and 762 stories.
