FESTIVALS IN DECEMBER
In frosty December, it is still hot at international festivals. Let us find out where you can see Polish documentary films this month.
The competition screenings in December start with "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański, included in the programme of Danish Adventure Film Festival. The documentary film about Jerzy Kukuczka will compete for the awards also at the 8th edition of the Bilbao Mendi film festival and at the Kathamandu International Mountain Film Festival. In Nepal, the viewers will see the film "Sati" by Bartłomiej Świderski and "The Shepherd's Song" by Vahram Mkhitaryan.
A couple of days later, "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec will begin its December festivals. First, it is included in the competition at the Anchorage festival in the United States, next at the university film festival MOV in Pernambuco, Brazil, and finally, at the Tenerife Short Film Festival. In December, the documentary film by Teresa Czepiec will participate in the documentary film festival "Cinema Verite" in Iran. There, "The End of the World" by Monika Pawluczuk, "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak, "Casa Blanca" by Aleksandra Maciuszek and "The Shepherd's Song" will also have a chance to win awards. In the non-competing sections, "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec, "The Place" by Julia Popławska and "Object" by Paulina Skibińska will appear. The latter two films will be present at the festival In The Palace in Bulgaria, and "Object" will be seen at Les Arcs European in France.
This month, Polish documentary films will compete for awards also in China. At the GZDOC festival, "W. Sisters' Beauty Salon" by Jakub Stożek, "Unstoppables" by Bartosz M. Kowalski, "If I only Were a Spider" by Katarzyna Warzecha, Alex Casianov and Martyna Majewska and "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak will be shown, too. The documentary film by Szcześniak will visit Colombia at the Bogoshorts short film festival.
Whereas to Israel at the Jewish Film Festival in Jerusalem is where goes the documentary film "The Dybbuk. A Tale of Wandering Souls" by Krzysztof Kopczyński. This film will be shown at the Russian festival ARTDOC Fest. This is where the screening of films by Marcin Koszałka will be held, during which the viewers will see: "Till It Hurts," "Let's Run Away from Her" and "Such a Nice Son I Gave Birth to."
