KRZYSZTOF KUBIK AWARDED BY THE ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY

Krzysztof Kubik, a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, at the Faculty of Film is this year's winner of the prestigious television award of the Royal Television Society for the short wildlife documentary film "Dipper from the Water of Leith."

The winner was awarded for the Best Documentary (The Factual Category Award), the Best Cinematography (The Craft of Excellence Award for camera) and for the Best Sound. In total, the film received three out of six awards. The jury observed that it had never happened before that one film won more than one award at the same time.

The jury was impressed by the professionalism of the film-makers, and at the same time, they considered the film "pleasant to watch, extraordinary and fresh in its approach to the subject matter." James Wilson, the Chair of RTS Scotland, said: "Dipper from the Water of Leith" is a stunning and beautiful wildlife programme; engaging and well crafted."

The film-maker himself, after the award ceremony, in an interview, admitted that he had not expected such a good reception of the film and the nomination itself was a huge surprise.  Nonetheless, the fact of getting 3 awards was quite stunning.

Krzysztof graduated from the film school in Edinburgh with distinction in 2015 and immediately showed that he can do better. At the moment, he is working on a feature-length wildlife documentary film, as well as, together with the director and producer Karolina Mazur, finishing his début feature film "Passengers" - about the emigration of Poles to Great Britain.
