"WIKA!" AT IDFA FORUM
The international co-production market IDFA Forum is one of the largest events in Europe, dedicated to documentary films. One Polish project is invited to participate in it this year.
The IDFA Forum takes place within the frames of the International Documentary Film Festival IDFA in Amsterdam. Artistic and innovative documentary film projects, which have international potential, are invited to participate in the event. The IDFA Forum is a perfect place for producers who are looking for partners to co-finance or to co-produce a film, as well as for distributors and sales agents.
During three days of IDFA Forum, numerous teams consisting of directors and producers will have an opportunity to show the projects to the invited decision-makers from the documentary film industry. During the event, there are also lectures, meetings with professionals and potential buyers of the projects.
This year, the Polish documentary film project "Wika!" qualified for the IDFA Forum. It is directed by Agnieszka Zwiefka. Anna Stylińska, Katarzyna Ślesicka (My Way Studio) and Heino Deckert (ma.ja.de.) are responsible for the production of the film.
The protagonist of the documentary film is the eponymous Wika. The woman is the oldest DJ in Poland, and maybe in the world. At the age of 80, she performs in music clubs, both for the seniors and for the audience younger than her grandchildren. Instead of making pierogi, she entertains crowds until 4 a.m. and keeps on saying that 80 is the new 40. The film, made using the form of a retro music documentary, tells about the old age, passing away and the joy of life. The observation scenes from the life of Wika and other seniors will be combined with staged musical sequences in the style of the golden era of Polish dance bars.
The IDFA Forum is held from the 24th to the 27th of November.
