“IT'S ONLY/NOT ONLY A BODY... OR A SHORT FILM ABOUT FREEDOM” IN THE INTERNATIONAL CAMERIMAGE COMPETITION
The cinematography in Michal Hytroso's new film was noticed by the selectors of the Torun festival. The cinematographer of the documentary was the director himself.
EnergaCAMERIMAGE is the largest and most famous festival devoted to the art of cinematography. Thanks to the festival, people have started to recognise that cinematographers co-create the visual side of films – they're artists, just like the director and actors. EnergaCAMERIMAGE is also an excellent forum not only for presentation, but also for discussions on the future of film art. By bringing together already successful filmmakers and helping debutants and students, it allows them to explore new artistic areas.
In addition to the Main Competition, the festival also holds the Cinematographers' Debuts Competition, the Polish Films Competition, the Directors' Debuts Competition, or the TV Series Competition. There are also two competitions devoted to documentaries – both feature-length and short ones. Each is going to feature one Polish production.
This year, Michał Hytroś's film was invited to the international feature-length documentary competition. The director himself is responsible for the cinematography in It's Only/Not Only A Body... Or A Short Film About Freedom.
Love thyself. This is the life credo of Zosia – a photographer, traveller and free spirit. Going round the world in her camper, she uses photography to make other women comfortable with nakedness and teaches them to love their own bodies. In front of her lens stood women who experienced eating disorders and did not accept their looks. Zosia, who has no place of her own on Earth, has been on the road since she left school at the age of 18. Freedom is a priority for her but loneliness and longing for love may sometimes jeopardise her travelling plans.
