“HOME MOVIE” SELECTED FOR THE (EGG)CELERATOR LAB
The documentary project Home Movie, directed by Anu Czerwiński, has been selected for the (Egg)Celerator Lab – a prestigious year-long development programme run by Chicken & Egg Films, addressed to creators working on their first or second feature-length documentary.
(Egg)Celerator Lab offers comprehensive support to selected projects, including a production grant of USD 40,000, mentorship from the Chicken & Egg Films team, and two residential creative retreats focused on artistic and professional development. Participants also receive travel support for attendance at industry forums and markets, tailored networking opportunities, access to funders, and peer support within an international cohort of filmmakers. The programme is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, a network of donors, and grant-making organisations.
Home Movie is produced by MY WAY Studio. The documentary explores growing up in a Catholic Polish family in which the director leads a double life: publicly he is an out transgender man, while at home he continues to perform the role of 'Anna', the daughter his parents believe him to be. The decision to come out triggers long-suppressed tensions, revealing a family trapped within rigid roles – an exhausted mother, a patriarchal father, one brother burdened by debt, and another dreaming of independence despite his disability. By recording the everyday lives of those closest to him, Anu witnesses their gradual, quiet transformations, showing how real change emerges through a shared struggle for self-definition, even when the relationships remain complex.
