TWO AWARDS FOR ”COMMUNION”
During the last few months almost every week news about yet another success of Anna Zamecka's ”Communion” came up. This time the film received two awards at the Serbian Free Zone Film Festival.
On November 6th the closing ceremony of the Free Zone Film Festival was held in Serbia. Two awards went to Anna Zamecka's ”Communion”: Best Film in the International Competition and Best Film in 14+ Competition.
”Communion” is a story of a 14 years old girl Ola who takes care of her dysfunctional father, autistic brother and a mother who lives separately; but most of all tries to reunite the family. She lives in the hope of bringing her mother back home. Her 13 years old brother Nikodem’s Holy Communion is a pretext for the family to meet up. Ola is entirely responsible for preparing the perfect family celebration, while Nikodem watches his close ones struggling from his own unique perspective.
In October ”Communion” received awards in Romania, Japan and New Caledonia. The film was also nominated to the prestigious awards of the European Film Academy 2017 in the documentary films category.
