POLISH PROJECTS AT EAST DOC PLATFORM 2018

On March 3rd the East Doc Platform - film industry event supporting the production of documentary films in different stages of development - will begin. This year Polish projects are present in four programmes: East European Forum, East Doc Market, If-Then Short Docs Pitch and East Doc Interactive.

The East Doc Platform is a documentary industry event organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague, alongside the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

The 7th edition of the event will take place between March 3-8, 2018. Many awards will be handed out during the event, with a total amount of €35.000. They will go to the best projects in the development chosen from all the projects taking part in the East Doc Platform.

This year twelve Polish projects entered the East Doc Platform events.

EAST DOC FORUM

The East Doc Forum is an event created for film producers who work on the projects in development or early production and want to secure funding. The East Doc Forum is preceded by a 5-day preparatory workshop, and includes the central pitch, 'one-to-one' meetings and discussions.

21 projects were invited to this year's edition. Among the selected productions there are seven from Poland:

EAST DOC MARKET

The East Doc Market is a two days long market created to give documentary filmmakers an opportunity to meet various decision makers, including film festival representatives, broadcasters, film funders, distributors, etc. It consist of previously arranged 'one-to-one' meetings and is open for film projects in any stage of development.

This year 14 projects were invited to the East Doc Market, including two Polish productions and co-productions: "Flesh" by Marcin Koszałka (PL, DE, CH, CZ, TH), produced by Marta Szarzyńska and "Women in Kiosk" by Daniel Stopa. The film producer is Małgorzata Staroń.

 IF/THEN SHORT PITCH

The IF/Then Short Pitch, in cooperation with Tribeca Film Institute, will take place at EDP for the first time. The winner will receive a $20.000 award to finish their movie, as well as distributional support on various platforms. Polish projects taking part in the pitch are: "Dan" by Katarzyna Hertz and Jan Szewczyk (also the producer) and "George and George on the Lake" directed and produced by Piotr Małecki

EAST DOC INTERACTIVE

It is an event devoted to filmmakers creating interactive, cross-media, web documentary and virtual reality projects. Also in this section we will find a project from Poland: "Crossed-Out Warsaw" by Piotr Greiner, Marcin Adamski and Marcin Rysniak.
