“LETTERS FROM WOLF STREET” IN BEST OF FESTS AT IDFA 2025
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), the world’s largest event dedicated to documentary cinema, has just revealed part of this year’s programme. In the prestigious Best of Fests section – showcasing the most acclaimed and award-winning titles from the international festival circuit – the Polish-German production “Letters from Wolf Street” directed by Arjun Talwar has been included.
The Best of Fests strand features films that have captivated audiences and juries around the globe. Diverse in form and genre, these documentaries address some of today’s most pressing social, cultural, and political issues, offering a wide perspective on the challenges of our times.
“Letters from Wolf Street” is a deeply personal work by Arjun Talwar, who emigrated from India to Poland over a decade ago. Grappling with feelings of alienation, the filmmaker turns his camera on his neighbours living on Warsaw’s Wolf Street. His lens captures not only their daily lives but also profound stories: a postman delivering both letters and remedies for loneliness, or a newcomer from Damascus trying to reconstruct his hometown from memory. From this single one-kilometre street emerges a multifaceted portrait of contemporary Europe, while Poland – often seen as conservative and unwelcoming – is portrayed with tenderness, humour, and empathy.
This year’s IDFA will take place from 13 to 23 November, with the full Best of Fests line-up available on the festival’s official website.
