WHEN HARMATTAN BLOWS
POLISH TITLE: GDY POWIEJE HARMATTAN
Barbara is 25 and lives in Accra. As an 8-year-old girl, she shared the fate of thousands of Ghanaian children who were forced into slave labour by their own parents. For years, day in day out, she had to live in the world filled with abuse, violence and fear. She survived thanks to the help of her eldest brother and her friend, father Piotr. Later, despite the trauma suffered, she financially supported her entire family. However, when their expectations start rising, Barbara and her brother decide to go home. This visit is also an excuse for Barbara to ask her parents some questions that have bothered her for her entire life.

Absolwentka Mistrzowskiej Szkoły Reżyserii Filmowej Andrzeja Wajdy, studiowała w Camerimage Film School w Toruniu. Skończyła także Szkołę Główną Handlową oraz Francuski Instytut Zarządzania. Przez kilka lat pracowała w firmach medialnych (m.in. Agora S.A., Wizja TV, Atomic TV, The Warsaw Voice). W 2006 r. wzięła udział w Berlinale Talent Campus. Jej filmy dokumentalne były pokazywane na wielu międzynarodowych festiwalach filmowych (m.in. w: Toronto, Nowym Jorku, Bostonie, San Francisco, San Diego, Londynie, Sheffield, Nicei, Zagrzebiu, Kijowie, Kantonie, Melbourne, Krakowie, Wrocławiu i wielu innych). Jest członkiem Koła Młodych Stowarzyszenia Filmowców Polskich.
