SILENCE I

POLISH TITLE: CISZA I

First task of the documentary students, taking part in the first Documentary Course was to make the three-minute short films  entitled “Silence”. Each of them interpreted this term differently. Six of the shorts were chosen and put together in a set, touching much profound matter than the original aim of a student’s task.

Born in 1972 in Bydgoszcz. He is a graduate of the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw. He started as an amateur (What do you think about it, Gałuszko?, 12000 kilometres), during his studies he participated in the production of Silence (2003). The Cure (2004), Old Book Store (2005) and The Suburban Train (2007) were awarded at the Krakow Film Festival. He is also the author of documentaries: Ahoy (2006), Katyń. 60 Days on the Film Set (2007), In the Sky, on Earth (2007). An award winner at the festivals, among others, in Győr, Paris, Cieszyn, Łagów, Wrocław and Toruń.

A member of Guild of Polish Documentary Directors Polish Film Academy and European Film Academy. Director of short film "Daughter" (Grand Prix at Angers Premiers Plan) & director, editor, cameramen of 13 documentaries awarded at many international festival incl. Los Angeles Film Festival, Palm Springs Film Festival, Punto de Vista, Nancy - Aye Aye Film Festival, Evora - FIKE, Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, Camerimage & Krakow Film Festival.    

Edyta Wróblewska »

director and producer, a graduate of Wajda School, Camerimage Film School and Berlinale Talent Campus, PhD student at Łódź Film School. Author of awarded documentaries ("PRL de Luxe", "Girl from a Reading Primer", "Small Instruments"), which have been screened at dozens of film festivals, including Vision du Réel, Sheffield Doc, Vancouver IFF, Guangzhou Doc, Docs Lisboa, ZagrebDox and many others. She has also directed a short fiction film "The Road" and a theatre play "Mulholland Drive/Diane". A tutor in film directing, an expert of the Polish Film Institute, a member of the Polish Film Academy. 


 

Marcin Bortkiewicz »

Born in 1976 in Słupsk. This graduate of the University of Gdańsk and th Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing since 1991 has been associated with Rondo Theatre in Słupsk as an actor, scriptwriter and director. In 2006 he began cooperation with producer Darek Dikti and Biuro Pomysłów, a film production company. His short documentary forms include Cisza (2003), The Rules of the Game (2004), Zrobię film dla Ciebie – Gdynia (2007) and Row, row, row (2008).
