Northern Albania. Men are the most important here. When they sit at the table, talk, drink or play domino a woman may only serve them. ‘God is with us. Men that is’, they say. Bedri was born as a woman but decided to become a man. Her brothers accept this decision provided that she will never have children and, what is more, she will remain a virgin until the end of her life. She was born a woman and she will die a man.

born in 1958 in Łódź. He is a graduate of the Television Production School at the PWSTviT film school. He has been a laureate of many festival awards (Charleston, Cracow, Kielce, Lublin). His most important films include: Kalina (1992), Miron (1993), The Black Tulips (1997; Silver Hobby-Horse), Opowiem wam o Marku (1999), In Search of the Lost Years (2002).
