GORALENVOLK
Paweł Smolenski, a journalist for “Gazeta Wyborcza,” is on the trail of the first organised Polish collaboration during the Second World War. In 1945, just before he was brought to trial, Wacław Krzeptowski from Koscielisko handed down everything he possessed to the Home Army as compensation to the Polish nation for the wrongs and trespasses done to the people of Podhale during its German occupation. Together with Dr Henryk Szadkowski he created a mountaineers’ state in Podhale, in close co-operation with the Germans – a state called Goralenvolk.
