'OBJECT' AWARDED AT SUNDANCE FESTIVAL

'Object', the documentary film by Paulina Skibińska, was given a Short Film Special Jury Award for Visual Poetry at the Sundance Film Festival. The competition screening was at the same time the film's world première.

Sundance Film Festival is the most important independent film festival in the USA.  Only to participate in the competition is a huge honour, and to be included in the competition, the documentary by Paulina Skibińska had to compete against over eight thousand films.  The screening at Sundance was the festival début of 'Object', and the winning of Short Film Special Jury Award for Visual Poetry brings joy all the more.  The jury, consisting of K.K. Barrett, Alia Shawkat  and Autumn de Wilde awarded 'Object' for extraordinary visual storytelling, it shows us beauty, darkness and suspense in a untraditional way. Jakub Stolecki was responsible for the cinematography, whereas the underwater photography was taken by Adam Wasiak, Grzegorz Zubowicz, Krzysztof Wiszniewski, Piotr Czechowski  and Arkadiusz Ostrowski.

'Object' is a creative image of a rescue mission, taking place in two worlds - on the ice desert and under water. The film is told from the point of view of the rescue team, of the diver entering the world under the ice, and of the ordinary people, awaiting on the shore. The documentary was produced by Munk Studio, working in co-operation with Polish Filmmakers Association.

'Starting Point' by Michał Szcześniak also qualified for this year's edition of the Sundance festival. In 2013, Short Film Grand Jury Prize went to the documentary by Grzegorz Zariczny, 'The Whistle' - produced by Munk Studio - SFP, and in 2011, in the short documentary film competition, Special Mention went to Jakub Stożek for 'Out of Reach'.  In addition, the following feature films were shown at the Sundance festival: "Frozen Stories" by Grzegorz Jaroszuk in 2012 and "Echo" by Magnus von Horn, and "Birthday" by Jenifer Malmqvist in 2010.
