MORE POLISH PRODUCTIONS AT IDFA
Another week brought new documentary titles which were invited to the IDFA program. Two more films joined today the previously announced list of Polish films.
On October 23rd the festival announced the full list of the films selected to the new "Luminous" section, which will present documentaries showing the modern world through the personal experience. The two Polish productions were invited to this section.
The first of the two is Ewa Kochańska's film "Compulsory Figures". It is a story of Julia, Ukrainian figure skater who comes to Poland to practice, and her mother Marina, who wants her daughter to succeed no matter what.
The other film presented in the "Luminous" section is "Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski" by Irek Dobrowolski. It is a Polish-American coproduction produced by, among others, Anna Dobrowolska as well as Leonardo DiCaprio and his father George DiCaprio. The film tells a story of a Polish-American artist, Stanisław Szukalski, discovering not only the story of the artist himself but also his works, most of which went missing during the Second World War.
Those two documentaries join other Polish productions that will be screened at IDFA festival. You can read more about them on the festival website. We wrote about the previously announced Polish films that will appear at the festival here.
