POLISH CINEMATOGRAPHER NOMINATED FOR BIFA
Magdalena Kowalczyk has been nominated to the British Independent Film Awards for best cinematography for Andrea Arnold's documentary "Cow".
The documentary received four nominations – for best documentary, best editing, best sound, and best cinematography.
The film tells the life story of two dairy cows. The production took six years to make. The camera follows both protagonists, showing the challenges they face every day and the emotions they experience in everyday situations. Cow also acts as a reminder about the special role cows play in our lives and shows the exceptional beauty of these animals.
Magdalena Kowalczyk is a graduate of the Documentary Course at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing.As a cinematographer, she worked on nearly thirty student shorts and documentaries, including Viva Maria! by Agnieszka Smoczyńska, Letters to A. by Wiktoria Szymańska, A Stranger on My Couch by Grzegorz Brzozowski, or Tonia and Her Children by Marcel Łoziński.
