REVIEW OF THE FILM “SILVER” DIRECTED BY NATALIA KONIARZ [CINEUROPA]

The documentary Silver, directed by Natalia Koniarz, won the main prize—along with other awards—in the Opus Bonum competition at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival. The film is set on Cerro Rico, a mountain towering over the Bolivian city of Potosí, whose interior hides rich silver deposits. Koniarz sensitively observes the lives of the indigenous inhabitants, for whom the mine is both a source of livelihood and suffering. This highly evocative portrait intertwines the themes of work, poverty, and faith, creating a poignant picture of existence.
