ZOFIA SAWICKA’S DOCUMENTARY PROJECT WINS TWO AWARDS AT FIPADOC INDUSTRY
The documentary project “Inner Landscapes”, directed by Zofia Sawicka, is returning from this year’s edition of FIPADOC in Biarritz with two prestigious industry awards: the Best Pitch Award and the Docs Up Fund Award.
As we reported in a recently published news item, the Polish presence at FIPADOC this year has been exceptionally strong, both in the festival competitions and across the industry programme. The success of Zofia Sawicka’s project stands out as one of the most significant highlights of this presence.
“Inner Landscapes” was selected for the International Pitches Selection, within which projects from 24 productions from around the world were presented. The project drew the attention of the international jury thanks to both its artistic concept and the universal dimension of its narrative.
The film tells the story of people of different nationalities and backgrounds travelling by train across vast, abandoned steppes. For some, the journey lasts only a few hours; for others, several days. The enclosed, stifling space of the train carriage becomes a site of confrontation with personal conflicts and emotions, while the intersecting stories of the characters form a multi-voiced reflection on the condition of the contemporary human community.
The film is produced by Maciej Kubicki and Zofia Kujawska of Telemark.
