FESTIVALS IN APRIL
In April, Polish films appear at twenty two international festivals, among others, at Hot Docs in Canada and IndieLisboa in Portugal. The viewers from around the world will have a chance to see a total of seventeen Polish documentary films.
In the programme of the festivals which started in March, there is "Werka" by Paweł Łoziński, invited to the competition in Pittsburgh and "Abu Haraz" by Maciej Drygas, invited to Belgium.
"Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec is the record-breaking film in April - it will be shown seven times at the festivals abroad. It begins its tour in France at Fide - International Festival of Student Documentary Film. It is not the only student festival, which will feature the film by Teresa Czepiec, another one is held in Brazil at the end of the month. Also in Brazil, the documentary film will be shown at "It's all true" festival in Brazil. "Super Unit" will be seen also by the audience of the International Women's Film Festival in Dortmund and Cologne, Crossing Europe in Austria and Doxa in Canada. The documentary film has also been invited to the competition at "Go Short," held in the Netherlands.
The following films will also compete for the award at the Dutch festival: "W. Sisters' Beauty Salon" by Jakub Stożek, "The Shepherd's Song" by Vahram Mkhitaryan and "Invisible" by Zofia Pręgowska.
"Object" by Paulina Skibińska can boast five festival screenings in April. At the beginning of the month, it will compete against "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak in the competition at Florida Film Festival. At the same time, "Object" will compete for the award at the Sarasota film festival. Next stops for the documentary film by Paulina Skibińska will be the festivals in Nashville and Minimalen in Norwey. At the end of the month, the documentary film will be in Portugal at the IndieLisboa festival.
"Joanna" by Aneta Kopacz has been invited to the competition at The Roving Eye festival in the USA. "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński will be also shown in the USA, at Ashland Independent Film Festival. The viewers of Shorts&Docs Festival in Reykjavik will see "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański, while "6 Degrees" by Bartosz Dombrowski will visit the student festival Sehüchte in Germany. "Survey about men" by Mateusz Głowacki and "Knife in the wife" by Vita Maria Drygas will be shown in Hungary.
Canadian festival Hot Docs has invited three Polish films to its programme: "The Queen of Silence" by Agnieszka Zwiefka, "The End of the World" by Monika Pawluczuk and "The Place" by Julia Popławska. The last one, together with "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak, will be also available at Documentamadrid, beginning on April 30. The Italian Trento Film Festival, where the "The Shepherd's Song" by Vahram Mkhitaryan will be shown, also starts on the last day of the month.
