POLISH DOC DAYS IN RUSSIA

In November, in Moscow and Kazan, the Polish Doc Days festival will be held, organised by Polish Institute in Moscow. Within the frames of the event, Polish documentary films will be shown, made both by the masters and by young beginner film-makers. Krakow Film Foundation is the co-organiser and partner of this event.

Film screenings are scheduled from 7 to 15 November 2015. In both cities, the documentary films will be shown in four film sections, and in Kazan, the audience will also watch the retrospective of Marcin Koszałka's work.

The first section, which is already familiar to the audience in other countries, among others, in Turkey and Mexico, and in recent time, at the IDFF "Flahertiana" in Perm, is "Masters from Krakow - the award-winners of Krakow Film Festival 1961-1999," and within its frames, recognised Polish documentary films will be shown, which were made by the masters of this genre and won the Golden Dragon or the Golden Hobby-horse at Krakow Film Festival: "The Musicians" by Kazimierz Karabasz, "Primary school" by Tomasz Zygadło, "Hair" by Marek Piwowski, "The Hospital" by Krzysztof Kieślowski, "The Primer" by Wojciech Wiszniewski, "A Few Stories About Man" by Bogdan Dziworski and "The Sisters" by Paweł Łoziński.

In the second section, the Russian audience will have a chance to get acquainted with contemporary short documentary films made by young, ambitious and talented film-makers. In the screening "Young Talents," five Polish films will be shown, which are currently successful at international film festivals: "Object" by Paulina Skibińska, "House on its Head" by Adam Palenta, "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec, the Academy Award nominee "Our curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński and "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak that competes for the Academy Award nomination this year.

At the next screening, the award-winner of the Golden Hobby-horse and the Golden Horn at the 55th Krakow Film Festival - the film "Casa Blanca" by Aleksandra Maciuszek – will be shown. The second winner of the Golden Horn award at this edition of the festival, the film "The Queen of Silence" by Agnieszka Zwiefka, will be shown in the fourth section: "Women's documentary cinema." In this section, the film by Monika Pawluczuk, "The End of the World," will also appear.

In Kazan, apart from these four screenings, there will be the retrospective of the films by Marcin Koszałka, director, scriptwriter and cameraman, frequently awarded at festivals around the world. Within the frames of the screening, one will see the director's début film, "Such a nice son I gave birth to," as well as later productions: "All day together," "Till It Hurts," "The Existence," and "The Declaration of Immortality." In addition to this, at ArtdocFilm Festival in Moscow which is held 9-16 December, "Such a nice son I gave birth to", "Till it hurts" and "Let's Run Away From Her". Marcin Koszałka will attend the festival.
