“RAISA” GETS SPECIAL MENTION
The documentary by Dorota Migas-Mazur received a Special Mention at the Moscow International Documentary Film Festival DOKer.
The Moscow International Documentary Film Festival DOKer is relatively new festival aimed at promoting independent documentary films from around the world. The organisers want the festival to be a space where artists, experts, and viewers can meet together.
The awarded film tells the story of Raisa, a Chechen woman who flees her country in an attempt to fight for herself and her children. When making the decision to leave, she breaks away from the traditional system. This is the only way to object to the rules prevalent in her home country and the harm she had suffered. She relates her difficult experiences to her Polish language teacher. It's a film about female strength, determination, and the struggle for dignity and independence.
