POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AT DOCPOINT FILM FESTIVAL IN HELSINKI
Helsinki Documentary Film Festival DocPoint began on 22nd January. One of the main points of its programme is a masterclass given by Polish documentary filmmaker Jerzy Śladkowski and a retrospective of his films. Apart from that, two Polish films will be screened in Helsinki: “Fuck For Forest” by Michał Marczak and “Bad boy – high security cell” by Janusz Mrozowski. The festival ends on 27th January.
Jerzy Śladkowski, a renowned Polish documentary filmmaker, is a special guest of this year’s edition of the DocPoint festival. Śladkowski, who currently lives in Sweden, will give a masterclass in which he will examine the methods he uses in documentary making. A retrospective of Śladkowski’s films is another part of the festival’s programme definitely worth attention. The following titles will be screened: „Paradise”, “Two Rembrandts in the garden”, “Swedish tango”, “vodka factory” and “Vendetta – blood feud in the north of Albania”.
There are more Polish accents at DocPoint this year. In „Winners and bestsellers” section that presents films awarded recently at international film festivals „Fuck For Forest” by Michał Marczak will be shown. The film was awarded with the Best Documentary prize at 28th Wasraw Film Festival. In the programme entitled „Der Prozess” which focuses on films that show life behind prison bars „Bad boy – high security cell” by Janusz Mrozowski will be screened.
