LIDIA DUDA CELEBRATES SUCCES AT THE FESTIVAL IN PRAGUE

Despite the fact that the closing ceremony of the Prague festival One World will be held tomorrow the jury members have already chosen the winning films. One of them – a Polish “Entangled” by Lidia Duda received an award for the Best Directing.

International competition jury of One World decided to award Lidia Duda in recognition of her latest documentary “Entangled”. One of the jury members – a Scottish director – Sean McAllister on delivering the verdict noted the following: „The Best Director Award was awarded for a subtle treatment of the topic of pedophilia observed from the both sides of the problem. The director has managed to give a strong message without even showing the faces of her characters. We would also like to credit the soundtrack that supports the visual of the movie and helps the audience to better cope with the harsh topic“.

As a child, the film character was abused by his neighbour. Later, as a teenager, he tried to take revenge on him twice. The roles are now reversed: the paedophile is afraid of his victim. This mutual dependence, which lasted nine years, is presented from the perspective of the both men dearest ones. The story based on hatred and fear seems to have no end.

One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Prague was held for the 15th time this year. For two years now the festival is accompanied by the industry event East Doc Platform. It is worth to mention that this year, the industry programme featured numerous Polish projects. “Trans-reaction” by Sławomir Grunberg and Katka Reszke and “Three women” by Anna Jadowska were part of the East European Forum. “Domino effect” by Piotr Rosołowski and Elwira Niewiera made it to the Doc Launch while “On the sea with Badjao” by Eliza Kubarska, “To sing” by Olga Korotkaya and “Yula’s dream” by Hanna Polak were listed in the Project Market.
