CANADIAN HONORARY MENTION FOR "ART OF DISAPPEARING"

The latest documentary by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski "Art of Disappearing" has received another honorary mention. The film was appreciated by the jury of the RIDM festival ending on 24 November in Montreal.

Last Sunday, 24 November, ended the 16th edition of the Canadian documentary film festival called RIDM - Recontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal. In the International Medium Length Film Competition the film "Art of Disappearing" by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski was presented. The jury of this section, consisting of Mireille Dansereau (Canada), Marcel Jean (France) and Marco Lamensch (Belgium) has given the film an honorary mention.

"Art of disappearing" is a story of a Haitian voodoo priest of Polish origin, Amon Fremon, who comes to Poland in 1980 following an invitation from Jerzy Grotowski's Theatre of Sources. As the martial law was already in the air, Amon decided to change the history. According to him, general Jaruzelski has been possesed by Baron Samedi, an evil demon that causes the rigid attitude, the bloodshot eyes and his need to wear dark glasses. In December 1981 Amon celebrates a voodoo ceremony to reverse the evil hex, to liberate the general's soul and to stop the soviet tanks...

The RIDM festival has been held in Montreal since 1998. Its organizers' goal is to present the best documentaries from Canada and from all over the world to the wide audience. It's worth reminding, that last year in the International Medium Length Film section the main prize went to Wojciech Staroń for "Argentinian Lesson", and a year before that in the same section Jakub Stożek's "Out of Reach" was honored.
