"THE LUCKY ONES" CONQUER CALIFORNIA
Lately, the documentary “The Lucky Ones” by Tomasz Wolski, frequently awarded at festivals in Poland and abroad, won new laurels – this time at the most important film events in North America.
During the award ceremony at the Film Festival in Los Angeles the documentary “The Lucky Ones” was chosen the best short-length documentary film. The jury appreciated the fact that by the means of lyrical scenes depicting the everyday life in Polish town council, the director reveals the quintessence of human life: birth, marriage and death.
At the Palm Springs International Film Festival, which finished on 28th June, the film “The Lucky Ones” also received the special award – “for transforming the routine and bureaucratic procedures into a defiant, but at the same time moving picture of human life”.
Both festivals are among the most important film events in North America. The festival in Los Angeles presented over 200 films from approximately 40 countries. The audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with diverse cinematography – from feature films through short films, to documentaries and video-clips. The Festival in Palm Springs, on the other hand, is focused only on short films. During this year’s edition 314 films from several dozen countries were shown.
In the near future, “The Lucky Ones” will be shown to the audience at, among others, Parnu International Film Festival in Estonia and OFF International Short Film Festival in Danish Odense.
