"WIKA" IN THE NEW HORIZONS 'POLISH DAYS GOES TO CANNES SELECTION
Agnieszka Zwiefka's documentary was chosen to be among the five Polish films that will be presented during the Gose to Cannes program. This if the effect of a cooperation of the Polish Film Institute and the New Horizons Association, the New Horizons International Film Festival with the largest Marché du Film film fair.
The Goes to Cannes is a program that invites the most important festivals to present selected films that do not yet have sales agents, distributors, or a designated festival premiere to the foreign industry. This year's edition will be held entirely online.
The New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes selection includes four feature films as part of and Agnieszka Zwiefka’s new documentary "Wika".
The heroine of the documentary is the title Wika. The woman is the oldest DJ in Poland and maybe in the world. At 80, she plays in music clubs - both for seniors and the audience younger than her grandchildren. Instead of making pierogis, she entertains the crowds until four in the morning and repeats that 80 is a new 40. The film made in the formula of a retro documentary musical and talks about old age, leaving and the joy of life. Observation scenes from the life of Wika and other seniors will be combined with staged musical sequences in the style of the golden era of Polish dances.
A closed screening of New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes exclusively for the accredited representatives of the international film industry (festival selectors, sales agents, distributors, producers, etc.) will take place online on 22 June at 12.00-14.00 during Marché du Film Online.
