"WIND. A DOCUMENTARY THRILLER" WINS AT THE ITALIAN FESTIVAL
Michał Bielawski's documentary was named the best foreign film of the 23rd edition of the Cervino CineMountain festival in Italy.
Cervino CineMountain is literally the highest mountain film festival in Europe. The event takes place at the foot of the Matterhorn peak in the Pieniny Alps. The first edition took place in 1998 in Breuil-Cervinia. So far, the festival has screened over 700 films on mountain-related topics from around the world.
The program of this year's edition of the festival includes two Polish documentaries. In addition to the winning film by Michał Bielawski, the audience also had the opportunity to see "The Last Mountain" by Dariusz Załuski.
The protagonist of the awarded documentary "The Wind. A documentary thriller" is the halny wind - one of the most unpredictable forces in the Polish mountains. It comes in cycles, in every spring and autumn. One never knows if or when it turns into a destructive gale. Halny particularly affects the inhabitants of Zakopane and its area, changing picturesque mountain trails into a set for an untamed performance of nature.
