POLISH PROJECT AT KVIFF INDUSTRY DAYS
Among the 27 projects selected for Works in Progress, Works in Development – Feature Launch, and First Cut+ Works in Progress at KVIFF Eastern Promises, there is also a Polish project by Matej Bobrik.
KVIFF INDUSTRY DAYS is the industry segment of the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary. The festival will be held from June 30 to July 8, and the Industry Days will take place from July 2 to 5, 2023. Projects in production or post-production from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, countries of the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, and North Africa will be presented on the second day of the industry section.
Among the selected projects is the documentary Distances by Matej Bobrik, produced by Agnieszka Skalska from KOI Studio.
The documentary follows Shiv, Shushila, and their son Nikesh. They came to Poland from Nepal, hoping for a better life. Shiv is an Uber driver and is hardly ever at home. Shushila cannot adjust to the new place and misses her family in Nepal, and their teenage son is trying to win the favour of his peers. There are numerous tensions between the couple; they have no time for their son, who starts going down the wrong path.
