“SISTER OF MINE” TO COMPETE IN OSCAR-QUALIFYING FESTIVAL
Awarded at IDFA, Mariusz Rusiński's short documentary has been invited to compete at the It's All True International Documentary Film Festival in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
It's All True – International Documentary Film Festival, also known as É Tudo Verdade, has been held annually in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro since 1996. The festival was founded by Amir Labaki, who dreamed of creating a modern event that would present the most interesting documentary films from around the world. In addition to new releases, the program also features genre classics.
The documentary Sister of Mine by Mariusz Rusiński's is the only film that represents Poland during this year's festival one of only nine titles qualified for the Short Documentary Competition. The film follows Zuzia, an artistically gifted and very sensitive teenager struggling with drug addiction. Her brother – the film's director – decides to take a closer look at the family to understand what might have actually led to Zuzia falling into addiction. Mariusz Rusiński directs the lens of the camera at his loved ones in their most intimate moments and tries to capture the flashpoints, sources of conflict and lack of mutual understanding.
