“THE KIOSK” RECEIVES TWO SPECIAL MENTIONS AT DOCUDAYS UA
The new film by Daniel Stopa has received two special mentions at the Ukrainian festival. It was recognised in the Docu/Short Competition and by the student jury.
The Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is the only film festival in Ukraine with a focus on human rights. The festival was held annually in Kiev in March, and admission was free for the public. Two years ago, the event took place in a modified form at the Kijów cinema in Krakow during the 62nd Krakow Film Festival. After a year-long break, it returned to the Ukrainian capital.
Daniel Stopa's awarded The Kiosk follows Ania and Lidka, daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. Ania is strong and determined. Lidka – quite the opposite. It's caused by traumatic experiences. Lidka endured a toxic relationship with her husband, who had abused her for many years. When he finally ended up in prison, she found an opportunity for a new life under the care of her daughter-in-law. The women spend many hours each day at a kiosk run by Ania. Will the time they share, their conversations, and closeness be enough for Lidka to recover from her troubled past?
