POLISH PROJECTS SELECTED FOR IDFA FORUM

The 32nd edition of IDFA FORUM has announced its selection of 55 projects, with two Polish productions making the cut: Anu Czerwiński's Home Movie and the Polish-British co-production Trolls vs Elves by Aleks Rydzkowska.

Held from 17th to 20th November as part of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, IDFA Forum has established itself as a cornerstone event for creative, boundary-pushing documentaries with international appeal. The forum serves as a perfect meeting ground for producers seeking co-financing partnerships or co-production opportunities, as well as distributors and sales agents.

With an impressive pool of 820 submissions to choose from, the festival has carefully curated a selection distinguished by their compelling narratives, bold artistic vision, and willingness to push the boundaries of both storytelling and style.

Anu Czerwiński's Home Movie has secured a place in the Forum Overview section. The project, produced by Anna Stylińska and Katarzyna Ślesicka of My Way Studio, with German co-producer Alex Tondowski of Tondowski Films, tells a deeply personal story.

Anu, a transgender director, still shaves their moustache and assumes the role of beloved daughter and sister, Anna, when visiting family. Through the intimate act of filming their family, Anu hopes to overcome the fear of coming out, striving to rebuild authentic connections.

Meanwhile, the IDFA Doclab Forum Overview has selected the Polish-British production Trolls vs Elves, directed and produced by Aleks Rydzkowska.

This innovative interactive documentary places viewers at a crucial crossroads, asking them to align with either the Cyber Elves or internet trolls on the digital frontline – fighting or spreading disinformation about Ukrainian refugees.
