SEQUEL TO THE AWARD-WINNING VR PROJECT “THE CHOICE” TO BE SHOWN AT SXSW

The spectacular success of Joanna Popińska's “The Choice” prompted the director to create the second and third parts. The VR production will be presented at the iconic American festival SXSW.

South By South West in Austin (SXSW) is one of the most important events of independent cinema in the American market, next to Sundance. In addition to film screenings, intermedia activities and the festival's music scene also play a crucial role, in addition to various meetings and discussion panels for cinema buffs.

The Choice utilises minimalist animation, immersive virtual reality (VR) and realistic 3D models to build empathy in the audience through intimate, conversation-like interactions. These new chapters emphasize the diversity of experiences and the universal need for freedom of choice.

Makayla, a young Texan, shares her story of two abortions – shaped by physical challenges and life circumstances, highlighting the importance of personal freedom to decide.  Leigh and Dan, a married couple, talk about their unplanned pregnancy, analysing the doubts, decisions, and the dynamics of a mutual choice, focusing on the rarely discussed role of the male partner.
