POLISH DOCUMENTARIES SET FOR WORLD PREMIERE IN THESSALONIKI

My Sunny Side directed by Matylda Kawka and Child of Dust by Weronika Milczewska have been selected for competition at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival.

Founded in 1991, the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival is an international event dedicated to documentary filmmaking. The organisers' primary mission is to showcase and promote significant documentary productions from around the world. They place equal emphasis on debates and presentations concerning both emerging technologies and the future of the entire industry. The festival, which is held under the patronage of the Greek Ministry of Culture, also features an integral industry segment.

Child of Dust by Weronika Milczewska has been selected for the international competition. The documentary follows Sang, one of countless children left behind by American soldiers after the Vietnam War – unwanted, discriminated against, and scarred by a conflict that had taken away more than just his father. When Sang unexpectedly locates his gravely ill father in the United States, he decides to meet him, despite the hefty price. The only way to fulfil this wish is to relocate permanently to the USA, meaning he must leave behind his beloved wife, daughter, and grandson. In this foreign land, he struggles to find his place – not only in a society which views him as an outsider but also within his American family that never knew he existed. Cultural barriers collide as the past unexpectedly intertwines with the present.

My Sunny Side directed by Matylda Kawka will premiere in the newcomers' competition. True love can catch you off guard when you've all but given up hope of finding a partner. For Allie and Jo, it was love at first sight – they knew instantly they were meant for one another. This relationship has given them the strength they never knew they possessed. Jo, a transgender man, is a leading figure in New York's start-up scene – an accomplished speaker, mentor, and activist. His partner Allie, a transgender woman, is a biology lecturer beloved by her students.
