“DOUBLE TROUBLE” RECEIVES A SPECIAL MENTION AT THE BUDAPEST INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL
The Polish documentary “Double Trouble”, directed by Emilia Śniegoska, received a Special Mention at the Budapest International Documentary Festival, held from January 24 to February 1, 2026.
The festival is the only international documentary event organized in Hungary’s capital and presents a competitive selection of outstanding documentary films from around the world, without thematic restrictions. The films are evaluated by an international jury of five professionals in each section, awarding cash prizes as well as special mentions.
"Double Trouble" takes viewers to a Polish village in the heart of Romania, where time seems to pass more slowly. Its protagonists are Hanka and Bronka – widows and mothers whose children have emigrated in search of work. As they struggle with everyday life, the women find strength in friendship, humor, and mutual solidarity. The documentary explores the power of relationships, memory, and community, while posing questions about the future of a world built on shared experiences and support.
