POLISH DOCUMENTARIES ARE GOING ON A JOURNEY THROUGH EUROPE!
In the upcoming few weeks Polish documentary films will be visiting several European film events of great popularity on the international scene of documentary cinema. Lithuania, Germany, France, Sweden, Spain – these are the destination cities on the journey of Polish documentary films.
Starting the trip in the East of Europe, Polish documentaries will be screened at Vilnius Film Shorts (13 – 16 October). The films that represent Poland are: “Out of Reach” by Jakub Stożek, “The Last Day of Summer” by Piotr Stasik, “Kids Play” by Maciej Adamek, “The End of the World” by Mateusz Skalski, two documentary etudes from the National Film School in Łódź – “Invisible Border” by Hrafnsson Haukur Margeir and “Scream” by Jonas Matzow Gulbrandsen, and a docufiction “MC. Man of Vinyl” by Bartosz Warwas.
The next stop on the itinerary is DOK Leipzig, where a large number of our films will be shown on the big screen. “The Argentinian Lesson” by Wojciech Staroń, “We Will Be Happy One Day” by Paweł Wysoczański, “Doctors” by Tomasz Wolski and „Decrescendo” by Marta Minorowicz will have their international premiere. In Leipzig the audience will also have a chance to see „Phnom Penh Lullaby” by Paweł Kloc, “The Last Day of Summer” by Piotr Stasik and „Vakha and Magomed” by Marta Prus.
In France in the second half of October two short film festivals are held – one in Nice and one Lille. Polish documentary films will be shown at both of them. Un Festival C'est Trop Court! in Nice will present four documentaries: “Inventory” by Paweł Łoziński, “A Piece of Summer” by Marta Minorowicz, “Interrogation” by Adam Palenta, and “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz. In Lille – besides Łoziński’s and Palenta’s film – “Returns” by Krzysztof Kadłubowski, “The Conversation” by Piotr Sułkowski, and “Scream” by Jonas Matzow Gulbrandsen will also be screened.
What is more, Polish documentaries will visit the northern part of Europe. 24th October is when the International Short Film Festival in Uppsala in Sweden starts. The following films have been qualified: “Declaration of Immortality” by Marcin Koszałka and once again Łoziński’s “Inventory”, Minorowicz’s “A Piece of Summer”, and Kadłubowski’s “Returns”.
After Sweden Polish films are going to visit Spain, where in the end of October MiradasDoc Festival is held. Six documentary films are taking part in the competition: “38,5” by Grzegorz Dębowski, “Phnom Penh Lullaby” by Paweł Kloc, “Oh, My God, Dear God” by Julia Popławska, “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz, “That’s Life…” by Daniel Zieliński and “Vakha and Magomed” by Marta Prus. During the MiradasDoc Market the audience will also have a chance to watch “Declaration of Immortality” by Marcin Koszałka, “The Dog Hill” by Grzegorz Zariczny, “Little Bride” by Lesław Dobrucki, and “On the Road” by Leszek Dawid.
