GRAND PRIX FOR WOJCIECH STAROŃ IN MINSK
The 18th edition of the International Film Festival ”Listapad” in Minsk has ended extremly successfully for the Polish films, especially for ”Argentinian Lesson” directed by Wojciech Staroń.
Apart from the special award for Antonii Krauze for his feature history drama ”Black Thursday”, during the festival in Minsk Grand Prix in documentary film competition went to Wojciech Staroń for his documentary film ”Argentinian Lesson”.
After a success at the 51st Krakow Film Festival, where Staroń was awarded five times, and later at the 54th DOK Leipzig, where he was granted the Silver Dove award, it is yet another special award for ”Argentinian Lesson” this year.
“Argentinian Lesson” is a tale that follows the filmmaker’s 7-year-old son, accompanied by his parents, on a journey to Argentina. For a young protagonist it is not only a brush with a new language. As he develops a friendship with a young Argentinian girl, Janek enters the fascinating world of play but, at the same time, he explores the unfamiliar bitter taste of a childhood, contaminated by the issues of the grown-up world.
