TWO POLISH PROJECTS SELECTED FOR CPH:LAB
Two Polish projects have been included among the nine chosen for the international talent development program CPH:LAB. The selected projects will undergo an intensive cycle of workshops and mentoring, culminating in the presentation of their prototypes at the CPH:DOX festival in March 2026.
Launched in 2009, CPH:LAB focuses on nurturing talent, encouraging artistic risk, fostering unconventional collaborations, and pushing the boundaries of documentary filmmaking – this time with a particular emphasis on the immersive genre. This edition brings together nine international projects addressing a wide range of themes, including current political, cultural, social, and technological issues.
The training program, combining in-person and online workshops with mentoring sessions, will run from September 2025 to February 2026. Project teams will work under the guidance of Head of Studies Mark Atkin and a group of international mentors to develop their prototypes.
Among the projects representing Poland are:
"Anthrome" (Poland/Germany), by Sylvia Rybak, Marco Winter, and Urszula Przybylska. This data-driven installation depicts the abandoned gardens of an extraterrestrial colony as an analogy for technophile utopian ideas of communities isolating themselves from the world. The screen presents a collage of online discussions on such ventures, while the garden itself shifts between fragmentation and hyperrealism.
"Choices∞" (Poland), by Mathius Scibor (Au Matt) and Pepe Le Puke. This VR/XR queer crime story immerses the participant in a looping narrative of violence against queer bodies. Entering the world as an avatar, the user navigates a fragmented landscape shaped by memory, fantasy, and loss – with every choice determining the direction of the story.
