„WE WILL BE HAPPY ONE DAY” WINS IN MADRID
Last week proved very fortunate for Paweł Wysoczański – the author of documentary “We will be happy one day”. Straight after the award for the best short film in Reykjavik, weekend brought another good news – the award at the Spanish DOCUMENTA MADRID.
The ninth edition of the festival was held between 4th and 13th May. From more than 880 submissions, 58 films representing 42 countries were accepted to the competition programme of the festival. „We will be happy one day” by Paweł Wysoczański was the only Polish film in the official selection of the Spanish festival what gives another reason to feel glad about the second prize in the international short film competition that was presented to the film last Saturday.
„We will be happy one day“ is a documentary film about Daniel, a young man from Lipiny - the poorest town in the southern Poland. Daniel wants out of the omnipresent misery. With a mobile phone camera in his hand he wanders round his neighbourhood asking kids and grownups questions about their dreams. Are they going to come true, at least, for some? However, in the process of Daniel’s filming there emerges a hidden layer: the love between him and his charismatic grandmother. But will he ever manage to complete his film?
The award presented in Madrid is the third international award for „We will be happy one day“. The film was produced by BMC FILM.
