WOJCIECH KASPERSKI AWARDED IN ZAGREB

Yesterday, the winners of the International Documentary Film Festival ZAGREBDOX were announced. “Chasm” by Wojciech Kasperski was honoured with the “Little Stamp” award for the best film by a young documentary film-maker.

The jury of the international contest appreciated the Polish director's authenticity and sensitivity in depicting the loneliness experienced by the main protagonist. Chasm's  author, using a small amount of words, but beautiful images, introduces the viewers into the obsessive world of a man for whom the search for gold becomes more important than any relationships with other people. The north Siberian mountains are the background for the story about desire, distrustfulness towards the reality, and lonely attempt at understanding it.

Wojciech Kasperski graduated from the Lodz Film School. He makes his films in Poland and Russia. He is considered one of the most interesting young film-makers, in Poland and Europe. His films, especially The Seeds, win numerous awards at festivals in Poland as well as abroad. He is a participant of the INPUT conference, Cannes festival, within the frames of  Tous Les Cinémas du Monde and Prix Europa.
